Creating Lest We Forget Remembrance Plaque

We've launched a brand new collection of military models at the Design & Make store!   Our ‘Lest We Forget’ project is dedicated to all the men and women who are serving and have served in the Armed Forces community, the special contribution of army families and the emergency services, as well as innocent civilians who have lost their lives in conflict. Every year, people across the globe commemorate the sacrifice of those who have died or been injured by war, and this thought-provoking tribute is to honor all those who defend our democratic freedoms and way of life. We hope this project helps you set the scene when creating your own personal commemoration to your heroes as we approach Remembrance and Veterans Day.

Watch as Olly creates this commemorative plaque as a two-part mixed material project featuring some of our new Design & Make military models including the Battlefield Cross, Remembrance Poppy and Carved Edge Panel No.2. The cross and poppy are cut as one piece in American Ash with the Carved Edge model cut in Kiaat, machining just the edge to leave the beautiful Kiaat grain as a feature – Kiaat is closely related to African Padauk. Why not v-carve a personal message of commemoration, glue the model to the plaque then give them to your family, display them to remember your ancestors or add them to your Etsy store as part of Remembrance Day theming.

We hope this project gives you a starting point to create something thoughtful and inspiring that will honour the fallen and keep their memory alive so we will not forget their sacrifice. If this model isn’t for you, why not check all our other military models at the Design & Make store and see what you can create in your workshops.
